Ponta da Ferraria

What could sound better than a hot spring in the ocean? This unique natural spot has a natural swimming pool that is fed by a hot spring.

The Ponta da Ferraria is located on the western tip of Sao Miguel and can be easily accessible. This isn't just any coastal spot with a natural swimming pool. This swimming pool is hot. The ocean temperature reaches 28 degrees Celsius at low tide, and the spring itself is a scorching 61 degrees Celsius.

There is a paved road down to the cliff where you will find a parking spot. This natural hot pool is accessible by a path that leads you all the way down to the pool. You are able to access the pool by walking mostly on smooth surfaces however eventually you have to cross some rocks to get to the pool so don’t forget to bring shoes along with you.
