Museu Militar dos Açores

In the city of Ponta Delgada, the Museu Militar dos Açores is housed in a historic building classified as a Monument of Public Interest – Forte de São Brás. This building is an example of Renaissance military architecture, built in the mid-16th century.

In operation since 2002, this museum gives special attention to the social side, aiming to collect, preserve and expose all human artefacts related to the military history of the Azores, creating the taste and interest for heritage and history.

Some of the booty exhibited in the Museum includes communications, armament, uniforms, fortifications and documentation, always presented with a chronological and coherent perspective.
