Chá Porto Formoso (Factory)

On the north coast of the island of São Miguel is "Fábrica de Chá Porto Formoso", which combines the production of 100% organic black tea in the varieties Pekoe, Orange Pekoe, Broken Leaf and Azores Home Blend and the preservation of the memories of tea brewing since its beginnings in the 19th century.

Visitors can start with a guided tour of the museum and then taste the tea in a space that reconstitutes a typical Micaelense kitchen or on the terrace overlooking the plantations and the village that gives it its name. In the spring, it is customary to recreate the tea picking with the costumes of the time, attracting many visitors.

The space is open Monday to Saturday from 09am to 6pm and closed on Sundays.
